Heavenly Massage: For your heart, soul, mind and strength!

There’s a well-known Illinois day spa called Heavenly Massage. Everything they offer, so they say, is designed “for your complete relaxation”. They describe a variety of massage techniques, aromatherapy wraps, hot stone treatments and herbal teas. Apparently many clients have called it a “heavenly experience” and I don’t think I would take much convincing! Read More…

Want a great description of heaven?

I’ve found an amazing book from Tyndale House publishers simply called “Heaven”. In it you will be amazed by so many valuable insights and topics – more than I could ever write about in this humble blog.

I never knew such an engaging, enlightening and thoroughly readable book on heaven even existed! But every now and again I feel like God shows me the choicest of things.

You might have heard of the author and I bet more than a few of you already know of his work. He is a New York Times best selling author with over 7 million books in print. I found out about him through a friend who gave me a gift of another of his books, “Safely Home”. What an experience! Read More…

Will we have time in heaven?

The problem with time is we never seem to have enough. Time is unlike any other resource. It’s completely non-renewable. We can’t speed it up, can’t slow it down, can’t store it away. And without getting into the theory of relativity, it’s as good as out of our control. The problem is, time runs out. We have so much to do. We’re rarely as efficient as we hope. Things go wrong so we waste time correcting them. We totally need more time! It’s not a pleasant thought but every passing day is one day closer to death. Time is an enemy!

But it wasn’t always that way. Read More…

Heaven? Can’t imagine living there!

I reckon Goldilocks had it better with those bears!

I mean, is heaven too soft!? I’ve seen the tv advertisements. Now I’m a regular guy. I like the outdoors but I couldn’t sit around all day on a cloud (or is it soft serve). For that matter, I don’t mind a bit of carolling. But I sure can’t see myself strumming a harp for evermore. I’d die of boredom. I just can’t relate.

Maybe heaven is too hard!? I’ve seen the Hollywood movies. You know, like when Jim Carrey meets Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty. Read More…

Would you believe, the Bible ISN’T the world’s largest resource about heaven!

Would you believe, the Bible ISN’T the world’s largest resource about heaven!

Of course there’s more than just a description of heaven in the Bible. It covers a huge range of topics. But what’s the world’s biggest document on eternity, the afterlife and heaven?

That prize would have to go to the Internet! However, knowing that isn’t totally helpful because there is so much disagreement about the details. So despite the huge amount of content about eternity outside the Bible, I’m going to start with the description of paradise in the Bible. Why? Because even though it isn’t the biggest, it probably is the most consistent.

Now I know, not everyone agrees with all they’ve heard about the Bible. And I’m OK with that. Read More…
